There’s something about waking up much earlier than your habitual routine because at that time not one person is necessarily expecting anything from you, so the ability to appreciate whatever prompted you to roll off of bed much sooner is greater. This particular Saturday morning I woke up at 4 a.m. so I could be at Gantry State Park by 4:45 a.m. I stood alone at the park, in the unwavering cold weather thinking how insane it was to have gone through all this for a few photos but I had a shoot in the vicinity at 9 a.m. and on top of that I had garner a punch of inspiration from having watched a Cityscape Photography Class on Skillshare by @trashhand where he gives you a run down on his approach to capturing his city’s story (Chicago) and how one could do the same.
I’ve always had a strong attraction towards night photography but unfortunately it’s a area I can’t always find myself doing as much as I would like. I have the tool but all that doesn’t seem to matter when time is not on your side.
