LIGHT + LADDER is a Brooklyn-based home accessories design house who’s culmination is that of founder Farrah Sit who’s dream was always to create a business based on quality, function, beauty and community. Farrah began doing everything from metal welding to hand carving wood and forging her own flatware. She found her niche, and has since teamed up with local artisans and manufacturers to produce everything carefully and precisely at home in New York.
I recently had the opportunity to spend some time with Farrah at her studio where she provided me a tour of the space, she enlighten me on the prototypical process by which each piece is designed, her background and equally satisfying her fascination with culture and our apparent affinity for being very experimental with food when it comes to exploring the array of ethnic neighborhoods in New York. As someone who’s inherently inquisitive, I can tell you there’s no greater satisfaction than being given the opportunity by an artisan where they graciously open their doors to disclose how they do what they do with their bare hands.
