No visit to Dubrovnik is said to be complete without walking around the walls that surround the old city and you gazing in every direction. During the walk, you’re treated to spectacular views of mountains, clear blue water from the Adriatic sea and because you’re up so high, it’s inevitable that you’ll find yourself catching glimpses of people’s homes which they didn’t seem to mind.
I don’t recommend the trek if you have a fear of hights or if you just have an aversion towards walking on steep terrain. The walk is allowed in one direction only and if you want to avoid the crush of cruise ship traffic, then I suggest going in the afternoon. The entire walk took us approximately 2hrs while taking into account that we ocassionally stopped for photo opts and just to catch our breaths.
I shot a little video with the D90 of the experience and I have to say that I wasn’t expecting much when we reached this port of call but it subsequently became one of my favorite destinations from our 14-day honeymoon cruise.
