I’m not particularly trying to make a living purely from photography but want to balance it with my existing (writing) work. I don’t think any of my classmates are naive enough to think it’s going to get them jobs – we all just wanted to grow as photographers and people, cheesy as that sounds.

Very informative article that discusses photography apprenticeship vs. formal education. One class in college was enough to convince me that this would be a hobby I would be exploring way after class was over and up until now, I’m just as curious as I was years ago. I’m not particularly losing sleep on how I can make money with my photography. I see the money as a bonus that would come as a result of working on projects that interest me rather than ones that would seem more lucrative.

Extra cash is good but not at the expense of getting it by doing something you don’t love.
