In the quest to keep myself as photographically entertained as possible, along with 2 friends we took the extensive walked across the Queensborough Bridge and I took this photo of the Q train as it proceeded over us using the 28mm lens.
The Nikon 28mm f/2.8 runs for about $250 but about a month ago I snagged a mint condition one for $125 on Craigslist. Prior to the purchase, for any wide-angle shots like this, I would have normally resorted to using the 18-105mm kit lens from the D90 which I’ve come to dislike in terms of image quality after knowing the type of results you can obtain when you begin experimenting with superior glass.
The lens is fast, light, worth the money and it’s provided me with the extra bit of space in the frame I’ve needed when I’ve been out with just the 50mm. If I had my choice of lens without price being an issue, I would undoubtedly have the Nikon 24-70mm f/2.8 attached. It’s rugged, the quality is amazing but until then, I’ve grown use to traveling with my 3 primes and the occasionally stoppage when swapping between them.
