I’ve held back from splurging on the Nikkor 105mm f/2.8 macro lens for the D90 as much as I would love to so to compensate for not having one, I invested on a the Raynox DCR -250 macro lens for the Canon G11 instead. This sturdy and versatile device is the camera of choice when hauling the dSLR is not an option.
The Raynox easily snaps on to the A-Base of the Lensmate lens adaptor and you’re able to obtain maximum macro magnifcation when you completely extend the zoom on the camera. The only drawback I’ve found is that you have to get as close as possible to your subject in order to get that beautiful depth of field which is find when you’re subject is an object but not so much when it’s an insect.
I took this photograph as I paid a visit for the first time to the New York Botanical Garden which I wasn’t too impressed with. I much prefer the one located in Brooklyn.
