I didn’t know it’s name or where he and the owner were from but I suspect they were local. The scene lasted less than a minute and it didn’t take long before I walked up and asked permission to photograph the dog. A small crowd started to gather behind me thinking it must have been a very special pup since it drove a photographer to sit without reluctance on the grubby pavement to snap a photo.
In between taking a few frames, my effort to photography a puppy instantly sparked the desire for onlookers to do the same with their cell phones as they hovered above me. What did I learn from this experience? There’s nothing wrong having spent a few hours not liking anything you’ve photographed but if you managed to secure at least one shot that you’re delighted to share, then your time wasn’t unproductive.
